1. What AuntyNow covers
AuntyNow provides a platform for booking supervised childcare services in the Parent's home or another declared location in Lagos or Abuja. The confirmed booking record sets out:
- The date, start time and duration of care;
- The number and ages of the children;
- The care address and whether it matches the Parent's verified home;
- The agreed hourly rate and total care value;
- The assigned Caregiver; and
- Any notes or disclosures material to safe care (allergies, routines, household hazards, pets, CCTV, other adults present).
Caregivers are expected to provide attentive, age-appropriate childcare within these parameters. A submitted request is not a confirmed booking. Overnight, extended, multi-day and recurring plans are currently enquiries only and require a separately approved arrangement; entering a plan does not authorise continuous work or secure care.
2. Standard childcare tasks
Unless the booking specifically states otherwise, standard childcare tasks include:
- Supervising and monitoring the children;
- Feeding, preparing snacks and simple meals;
- Assisting with hygiene, toileting, dressing and bedtime routines;
- Play, reading and age-appropriate activities;
- Light tidying directly related to the children's care, such as washing used dishes or putting away toys;
- Following the Parent's written or verbal instructions that are safe, lawful and within ordinary childcare.
3. Services that are not included
The following are not included in an ordinary childcare booking; adding a note does not authorise them:
- Medical treatment, medication administration requiring professional judgment, nursing care or therapy;
- Special-needs care that requires trained personnel or equipment;
- Formal teaching, tutoring or homework instruction beyond casual help;
- Driving or transporting children;
- Deep cleaning, laundry for the whole household, cooking for adults, gardening or repairs;
- Pet care unrelated to the children;
- Financial, legal, administrative or estate tasks;
- Any task that requires a licence, registration or qualification the Caregiver does not hold.
4. Changes and shared responsibilities
A change of plans must be discussed before additional work. Do not add tasks that are unsafe or require qualifications the caregiver does not hold. The app does not currently provide an automatic booking-extension or professional-services add-on workflow.
An off-scope request does not assign all legal responsibility to the parent. Each party remains responsible for their own acts and omissions under applicable law, including any negligence. AuntyNow’s recorded hold covers only the confirmed amount and is not insurance.
5. Off-scope requests: Caregiver rights
Caregivers are never required to accept an off-scope request. A Caregiver may decline for any reason, including safety, competence, time, licensing or personal comfort, without penalty or negative rating solely for that refusal.
If a Caregiver feels pressured, unsafe or unsure about a request, they should:
- Politely decline and remind the Parent that the request is outside the booking;
- Document the request in the app or by email as soon as practicable; and
- Contact AuntyNow support at hello@auntynow.com if the pressure continues or if they believe a child or anyone else is at risk.
6. Examples of off-scope requests
Driving, electrical repairs, financial errands, formal tutoring and additional children or hours are not included simply because they are requested verbally. Contact support before changing the arrangement. A specialised task may require a different, appropriately qualified service rather than an ordinary childcare booking.
7. How to add a service properly
Contact hello@auntynow.com before changing duration, location or duties. A new booking may be appropriate for additional ordinary childcare, but excluded professional services are not authorised simply by adding a note. A verbal agreement or side payment does not change the app’s duration, price or payment record.
8. What to do if something goes wrong
Address immediate safety needs first and seek emergency help when necessary. When safe, send support the booking reference and a factual description. The scope of a booking does not remove a right to complain or any remedy required by law. See Complaints & Dispute Resolution.
